Pemilihan sampel dilakukan melalui metode random digit dialing (RDD). RDD adalah teknik memilih sampel melalui proses pembangkitan nomor telepon secara acak.
Dengan teknik RDD sampel sebanyak 1228 responden dipilih melalui proses pembangkitan nomor telepon secara acak, validasi, dan screening.
Margin of error survei diperkirakan ±2.9 persen pada tingkat kepercayaan 95%, asumsi simple random sampling. Wawancara dengan responden dilakukan lewat telepon oleh pewawancara yang dilatih.
Selanjutnya, 26,9 persen responden menjawab bahwa Richard Eliezer sebagai orang yang menembak Brigadir J dan justice collaborator dalam kasus ini, lebih pantas dihukum lima tahun penjara. Disisi lain, sebanyak 14,5 persen responden setuju Richard Eliezer dihukum 10 tahun penjara.
“Agak berbeda dengan sikap masyarakat terhadap hukuman untuk Richard Eliezer paling banyak masyarakat itu hukuman yang paling tepat adalah 5 tahun atau 10 tahun,” ujar Djayadi.
