From Friend to Foe, Elon Musk Now Supports Trump’s Impeachment

DETAK24COM – Tech billionaire Elon Musk is back in the spotlight after publicly voicing his support for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. The statement has exacerbated tensions between the two, who were once close allies.

The conflict came to a head on Thursday (June 5, 2025) afternoon when Ian Miles Cheong, a right-wing writer based in Malaysia, made a post on Musk’s platform X. In his post, Cheong stated, “President vs Elon. Who wins? I bet on Elon. Trump should be impeached and JD Vance should replace him,” he wrote.

Musk responded shortly after with a curt, “Yes.”

The statement immediately sparked controversy, especially after Trump told reporters during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House that he was “very surprised and very disappointed” by Musk’s stance. The president highlighted Musk’s rejection of the President’s Policy bill that was being discussed.

Not remaining silent, Musk through his X account called himself an important figure behind Trump’s victory in the 2024 US Presidential Election. He also made serious accusations by mentioning the name of Jeffrey Epstein, a controversial sex offender and financier who died in prison.

“Time to drop a very big bomb,” Musk wrote.

“Trump is in the Epstein dossier. That’s the real reason the dossier hasn’t been made public,” he wrote.

“Bookmark this post for the future. The truth will come out,” he continued.

Trump also responded via Truth Social. He praised the bill proposed by the House of Representatives as a big and beautiful bill and considered Musk should have expressed his rejection a long time ago. “If this bill is not passed, there will be a 68% tax increase and other bad impacts. I’m not here to create chaos, but to fix it. This will bring America back to greatness,” Trump wrote.

In response to these heated statements, the White House gave an official comment. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that this was an unpleasant episode from Elon, who was disappointed that the bill did not contain the policies he wanted.

“The president is focused on passing this historic legislation to make our country great again,” he said.
