Langkah bersih-bersih ini dilakukan Google karena akun Gmail gratis yang lama tidak aktif kurang aman, dan rentan terhadap penyalahgunaan.
Setiap akun Gmail yang sudah tak aktif selama 2 tahun akan dihapus. Keputusan ini diambil untuk melindungi pengguna Gmail yang tidak aktif tersebut dari pencurian data dan kejahatan siber lainnya.
Google hapus Gmail yang tidak aktif mulai aw Desember 2023. Ttapi hanya pengguna Gmail gratis yang akan berdampak. Jika Anda memiliki alamat Gmail dari kantor atau sekolah, itu akan tetap aman meskipun tidak aktif.
Bagi yang tidak ingin kehilangan alamat email, Anda bisa melakukan 6 tips yang dijabarkan Google ini:
- Manfaatkan akun Google untuk membaca atau mengirim email
- Gunakan Google Drive
- Pakai untuk menonton video YouTube
- Unduh aplikasi di Google Play Store
- Menggunakan Google Search untuk browsing
- Masuk dengan Google untuk masuk ke aplikasi atau layanan pihak ketiga.
Selain itu, Anda bisa menggunakan akun Google untuk berlangganan Google One, publikasi berita, atau aplikasi. Selama anda menggunakan akun Google untuk berlangganan, akun Google dianggap aktif.
Selain itu, Anda bisa masuk ke Google Photos setiap 2 tahun untuk dianggap aktif.
Bukan cuma akun Gmail yang akan terdampak oleh kebijakan ini, melainkan semua ekosistem di Google Workspace. Artinya, filde Docs, Drive, Meet dan Calendar terancam terhapus.
Google juga memutuskan hal yang sama berlaku bagi akun YouTube dan Google Photos. Akun dan akses keduanya juga turut bakal dihapus jika pengguna tak aktif selama 2 tahun.
